lyrics
What am I up to?
I’m just upstairs
Trying to cope with
Heavy, wordless love in my chest
How do I continue?
How
How do I continue?
As you can imagine
It’s not what you would expect
Wet feet on the stone ground
Making a connection
Coolness as a concept
I ought to have sidestepped
Getting to an age where
It’s better to be unaware
I’m letting my spirit fly
It’s a slightly happier dystopia
I’m letting my spirit fly
Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
Just a beautiful jazzy rap album with buttery smooth flows versed with huge talent. It's not only lovely to the ears, but the lyrics are profound and empowering about the struggles that she faces. zhangtastic
